Saturday Synopsis

It's Sunday morning.  I haven't blogged in like a week or so, so hear goes. Yesterday was a very full Saturday. The thought occurs to me that if I want blog about it, good or bad, it was noteworthy. At least there's that, right?  Within 10 minutes of rolling out of bed, I headed to Urgent Care.  I wasn't sure if a Q-Tip top had gotten stuck in my ear, but either way I had some real ear pain happening. Two hours later I was home.  The "stuck" feeling I was having was air pressure that was so bad it "sucked" my ear drum backwards.  Thankfully, I have gotten some relief.  Anyway, after that extravaganza, we decided to take the kids to Ridgewood Ave., my old stomping grounds.  Without going into details, that adventure was less than stellar.  After we were back in the car, Kent surprised all of us by taking us to Red Lobster for a late lunch.  We had a really nice time and headed home to "regroup."  By mid afternoon I was back on laundry detail and I had a bold thought.  The other day at Hawthorne Christian I had picked a lot of brochures about the different ministries that are offered there.  (A dozen children's ministries alone.) On Saturday evening there is a Contemporary Worship Service and Club 208, a children's class. I made a quick call to a woman in the children's ministry and a gave her a quickie overview of my unique and God Given children. BOTH OF THEM.  We decided that BOTH of them should attend the class, and "give it a shot."  Everyone attends the musical worship beginning of the service, and then the children are invited to go to their class.  Kent and I accompanied them to their class, which happens to be in Victoria's classroom.  Less than five minutes later Kent and I were back upstairs ALONE.  BOTH kids stayed, participated, and were FINE in the class!  It was the first time since Jack's birth that both of us worshipped in Church together, without children.  It was an amazing feeling of momentary freedom from parenting, and a closeness with my husband.  Last night was a Communion Service, so we also got to share the Lord's Supper in a new way.  I'm so glad we went.  After that were bedtime snacks, and eventually some sleep.  Now that's a Saturday.
